Do I Need Time Off Work If Invisalign Affects My Speech?

June 20th, 2014
Q.

Hello! I’m currently working in an important role over at a call centre but I’m due to have my first set of aligners next week, so I’ve booked a day’s holiday to receive them. I didn’t ask if they’d affect my speech because I didn’t think anything of it at the time, is this something I should be concerned about? Do you think I should speak to my boss about it? Maybe ask for a couple more days off? Because obviously, I can’t work in a call centre if I can’t speak properly surely! Thanks for your time, I hope you can advise me!

Invisalign has caused a lisp, but my work involves speaking on the phone. What can I do?

August 19th, 2010
Q.
It has been one week since fitting the Invisalign, I was advised that the lisp should dissappear within a few days, my job involves a lot of phone call, I find it an effort to talk to customers. I have top and bottom braces, the treatment is more for my front teeth that stick out, lower jaw is fine but was advised that I need both. The only way I can overcome the lisp/speech is to wear the top whilst at work and wear both from evening and at night. Can this work without slowing the process of the treatment. I have become more self conscious wearing both braces.,
