Will my illness mess up my Invisalign treatment?

September 27th, 2012
Q.

Hello Doctor,
I am currently having Invisalign treatment and have been wearing braces for about four months now. Everything has been going fine and my dentist is happy with the results so far as am I. The problem is that for the last nine days I have been extremely ill with a throat and chest infection and have not been wearing my aligners. Mainly because I have just felt too ill to bother and also I have been coughing a lot and they were inconvenient really. Perhaps being ill I wasn’t thinking properly. Anyway, I know i have to confess this to my dentist ASAP but what do you think the outcome will be? has it messed up my whole treatment ? Thanks you in advance.

How many times a day should I brush my teeth?

September 26th, 2012
Q.

I know you are supposed to clean your teeth and aligner after each time you eat. But, instead of three meals a day I will usually have five smaller ones. Because of this I have to brush my teeth quite a lot. I have now read that brushing teeth too often can wear away enamel. Should I limit how often I do it? Also, because of the aligners I’ve been brushing my teeth too often and I feel as if my gums are receding they look like they are anyway, how many times a day should I brush my teeth? I feel the aligners make my mouth feel unclean.

Do you think that Invisalign would be suitable for me?

September 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I have been doing some research on different braces and I would really like Invisalign braces because they are so discreet. The problem area I have are that my front lower teeth are crooked and some are higher than the others. Would you recommend that I use Invisalign as I think the problem is quite minor? I have just graduated from University and will be moving to London in a few months. I would like to get the treatment done in the North-west if possible as I imagine the cost is more in London so would like to start treatment ASAP. Any advice would be very helpful, thank you.

What dental treatment would be best for my crowded teeth?

September 18th, 2012
Q.

Hi there I’ve always looked after my teeth however as I’m getting older (I’m nearly 33) have noticed they’re more crowded. My canine teeth are prominent (and slightly yellow) whilst my incisor teeth are fairly small. What’s the best treatment to give me a better smile? I’ve looked at veneers but don’t like the bulky appearance and the fact enamel has to be removed I’ve also considered invisalign but am worried I won’t be able to deal with it for 9 months!

Can I pay monthly for Invisalign treatment?

September 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi Doctor,
If I have Invisalign would I be able to pay a bit every month? Or does it depend on the clinic? I couldn’t afford £3000+ all at once.
Also, does wearing Invisalign affect speech? Also, when treatment is finished will I have to wear a retainer?I know during a consultation I would find all this out but for now I don’t want to be pressured into doing something that I am not sure about.Any help and advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Will Invisalign treatment affect my speech?

September 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi, do the aligners make you speak differently? My sister had the Inman Aligner and she had a few problems with her speaking and saliva. It has calmed down now but I am worried that I will have the same problem with Invisalign. I am a teaching assistant so it is important that I can speak clearly.
If it does affect speech then is there any other similar braces that are discreet where it doesn’t affect your speech?
Thanks Doctor!

How is Invisalign different to other braces treatments?

September 17th, 2012
Q.

Often, therefore, the results are more likely to promote better oral health over a longer period of time.

The above is the last paragraph on the differences between 6MS and ivisalign.

Please let me know what is the basis of the above statement.I look forward to hearing from you about this matter and I would like to thank you in advance for this.

Would veneers or braces be best for a gap in my teeth?

September 6th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
I am in a bit of a dilemma at the moment as I have a gap between two of my teeth on the top which is very noticeable. My normal dentist told me to go to a private clinic so that they can tell me the best options.I live in a small village in Wales though so I don’t really know of anywhere so thought I would do some internet research.
I would class my problem as minor but I am not sure whether to go for veneers to cover the gaps as it’s quick or to go through the process of braces which could take time. What is your advice on this? Thanks.

Can I have Invisalign if I have gum disease?

September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I would like to try Invisalign braces but at the moment I have slight gum disease and they bleed now and then.I have been to the hygienist and got some treatment and now I work hard to keep my teeth as clean as possible.
Obviously I will wait until the gum disease has gone but I am worried that the shield things will rub on my gums and hurt? Are they quite hard or soft? I wondered if I could maybe have a feel of one before I decide, do you think a dentist would let me do that? I have seen and worn a mouth guard before and they can be really tough and painful after a while, but I am guessing that they are the very cheap ones and not like Invisalign at all.Thank you for your help.

Am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?

September 3rd, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I have minor problems with both my upper and lower teeth. On my bottom jaw three teeth are not straight, one of them is higher up than the others and also slightly behind. On my top jaw both fang teeth are not quite straight but that’s about it.
Do you think I would be suitable for Invisalign from what I have told you? I know this is difficult as you haven’t seen my teeth! Also I would like the treatment to be fast because I will join a cruise ship in April next year and would like it all to be sorted by then. If you think it would take longer what is the next best brace to get that is quickish and discreet? I really don’t want fixed braces!
Thank you doctor in advance for your help.
