The retainer I was given after Invisalign treatment is causing pain. What can I do?

December 23rd, 2011
Q.

I had Invisalign treatment done while I was in Canada. As I knew I was coming to university in the UK I opted for a permeant retainer/metal wire on the back of my lower teeth. It has now been 3 years and I now am having tooth pain very similar to when I would start wearing a new Invisalign treatment and the teeth are pushing against the wire. Should I be concern as I have felt this pain for a few weeks? Is there anything I can do while I am in the UK (I am here for another year)

What is the best way to take out my Invisalign aligner?

December 19th, 2011
Q.

hi, what is the easiest way to remove your invisalign brace? I’ve had mine for about a week and it’s really hard to take out when I want to clean it or eat and I’ve cut my gums on it as well. I obviously don’t want to make it too loose at it wouldn’t be very good at treating my teeth but is there anything you could recommend such as a skill or technique? thanks for your time

Will I need to have teeth extracted to have Invisalign?

December 16th, 2011
Q.

I’m 14 and I recently enquired about braces because my teeth stick out but are not wonky. Because of the recent changed to the NHS to save money, you teeth have to stick out a certain amount or more and I was 1mm away. My mother is a single parent and on on benefit and so cannot afford braces. I was really disappointed. But, I was doubting braces before anyway because I am conscious of my appearance and I was told that I would have to have 4 teeth out which I’m not keen on because when my mother had a tooth extracted she experienced dry socket and it was very uncomfortable – I would not want to risk the chance of 4 dry sockets at the same time. I would like to know if any teeth have to be extracted for Invisalign and if there are discounts for teenagers with parents on benefit for Invisalign. If there are any other affordable, less visible that normal braces, and have discounts for certain circumstances, please tell me. Thanks.

My Invisalign attachments have come off, but my dentist doesn’t seem to be that concerned.

December 15th, 2011
Q.

Hi I’m just starting my Invisalign odyssey, in am about a week into my first tray and two of the attachments have fallen off. i rang the dentists office and the receptionist told me as long as the aligner stayed in it wasn’t a big deal if the attachments had fallen off. Is this right? otherwise whats the point in having the attachments? any help you give on the matter to help me clear it up would be great.

What can I do to stop my teeth moving again?

December 9th, 2011
Q.

I have been wearing my invisalign braces since Sept, since then I have spoken with numerous people who have worn braces at some point in their life, most having got them young therefore not having to pay, generally most say that after a few years they notice slight movement, even though they wore the retainer for the suggested period, obviously having spent a lot of money on this treatment, I am looking for any advice you have that will help prevent future movement?

It feels like my teeth are moving, could Invisalign or Clearstep straighten them?

December 9th, 2011
Q.

Over the past few years my front teeth have started to move and have lost what was a very straight line. They also seem to tingle every so often, like they are on the move again! I looked at Clearstep with my dentist some time ago, but due to overcrowding they wanted to remove four healthy teeth before bracing, so I was against the idea. Could the 6 month Invisalign be the answer to put my front teeth back in place, without having any removed? My teeth are a bit crooked accross the bottom, but I only wanted to address the change in the teeth that show.

Can my missing tooth gap be used to spread out my croweded teeth, or should I get an implant?

December 9th, 2011
Q.

hello

does invisalign straighten out teeth that have moved because of tooth loss? I have lost my tooth on my top jaw due to an accident and have stupidly left it for years, now my teeth have moved and look awful. If i use invisalign will it move the teeth into that gap and will that look ok, or should i get an implant before had to replace the gap?

what do you recommend doctor?

thank you

Is Invisalign the best brace to close a front tooth gap and move my crowded teeth?

December 7th, 2011
Q.

hello Doctor Thorne,

I hope you can help. I am looking into finally getting some braces for my teeth, which have a very big gap between the front two teeth and then the rest of the top jaw (teeth I mean) are severely crowded. Obviously this doesn’t look at all attractive, so I am looking for the best treatment to close up the gap and spread out the other teeth (I guess that’s what would happen) Do you think that invisalign would be up to this job?
if so how long could you estimate it would take and how much would it cost?

thank you very much
