Hi Dr. Akere, I’m wondering if you can help me out. I want braces and Invisalign seem like the best choice, but I’m one of these people that seems to be allergic to everything! What are aligners made of, and do they contain any harmful materials? I really don’t want a bad reaction in my mouth! Thank you.

I began the invisalign treatment a few months ago but my wisdom teeth have started to erupt. My dentist has said one of them has to be removed because of how it’s growing. So with this in mind, I’m really worried that it’s going to affect my treatment. It was going so well and I feel it’s all going to go wrong now. Can you please try and ease these fears for me? I’m due to see my orthodontist in 2 weeks but frightened about what he’s going to tell me.
When I was 17, I had fixed braces but I wasn’t keen on them at all. I now have front bottom teeth that overlap (I’m 28 now) and I’m not sure why this has occurred but obviously I want to sort it out! I don’t want to spend a lot of money, and I’ve heard that 6 Months Smiles is a cheaper option than Invisalign – but which treatment would be best for me? Also, are consultations free, and do they include teeth whitening? Thanks in advance.

Hi, what is your opinion on receiving aligners at the same time as having treatment for gum disease? I want to surprise my family when I visit them in Australia in 6 months time. I’ve always had a misaligned smile with large gaps and I think this is why my gums are in such poor health. I’m already being treated for my gums and looking for a dentist who would be willing to supply me with a brace system at the same time. Do you know of any? I live in Shrewsbury. Thanks for your time!

My dentist has informed me that if I want to have Invisalign aligners, I will need to get some of my teeth shaved away. I am quite scared by the prospect as I have heard that it can cause sensitive teeth and damaged teeth. It it safe? Thanks.

Hi Dr. Akere. I had braces around 3 years ago and my teeth were straight afterwards, but then my retainer broke and I didn’t get it sorted, and now my teeth have moved back. I want my teeth to be straight again as soon as possible, will Invisalign be the best solution for me? Thanks!

Hi Adam,
I was having a look through your website and was hoping you could make a recommendation for me. I had braces as a teenager, which left me with perfectly straight teeth. But due to my wisdom teeth coming through, this has pushed my molars forward and caused my front 4 teeth to squint. Is there a particular version of your product that could work best to straighten my teeth and also would you have an idea on cost? It would only be my upper set. Hello Dr Kumar. I’m 65 years old and recently lost my wife. I have always hated how misaligned my teeth were but they’re in such good condition (minus them being out of line) I’m a proud owner of a full set of teeth! I would love braces now and can see how much they’ve changed since I was a little lad. I feel I may be too old for braces now? What do you think? Hello Dr Kumar. I just wondered if you could tell me whether having missing back molar impacts on the success rates of Invisalign? I’m not even sure if I’m suitable yet, and I’m due for a consultation at the dental suite next week but I really want Invisalign. I don’t think I will be happy with anything else that they have to offer me. Are missing teeth a huge problem with this treatment?
