Can I have invisalign even though I have had fixed braces before?

January 18th, 2010
Q.
When I was in my teens I wore a fixed appliance to fix my crooked teeth. At the time I also had to have four teeth removed to make room. Now I am in my late twenties and my teeth have become crooked again though not as bad. Do you know if Invisalign can help me? Will the same problem not just happen again after years?

Get impacted wisdom tooth removed before starting invisalign?

January 12th, 2010
Q.
Hello Can I have an impacted wisdom tooth removed before starting Invisalign because food keeps getting stuck after each and every meal and it is a real bind! If so, how soon after having it removed can I start the Invisalign process? Would you recommend I had it out before or after the treatment?

Can invisalign treat teeth that overlap?

January 12th, 2010
Q.
My bottom teeth are quite crooked and overlap one another a bit. I have never had braces and am now 20 years olf. Do you know if Invisalign would be a good option to get them treated? My bottom jaw is quite small and there is little room, whuich is why I have already had to have my wisdom teeth removed as they came through so crooked and were causing further trouble. I would really appreciate your advice on this matter.

Are there any side effects to teeth stripping?

January 8th, 2010
Q.
Are there any possible side effects to the teeth stripping procedure that some dentist do to make room for teeth to move? My dentist has said I need it but I don’t want it. If one dentist says this will every other one as it is basically the same treatment process for all I guess?

Worried as teeth are sensitive after IPR

January 8th, 2010
Q.
I just got the IPR done for my invisalign treatment and there are these horrible gaps in ym teeth because of it. This is not the problem though as my teeth have all of a sudden become quite sensitive because of it. Coupled with the cold weather this is a bit of a ngihtmare. This isn’t going to last too long is it?

Is invislaign possible if I have four missing teeth?

December 15th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Akere, I had braces when I was about 12-14 (I am now 21) and my teeth have relapsed. I recently had 4 extractions on all sides in the back because of tooth decay. I was wondering, is invisalign still an option with these four missing teeth? Thank you.

Is IPR safe for dentist to do?

December 9th, 2009
Q.
My dentist has told me that I can do invisalign but that I will need to get some IPR done. I am not sure about this procedure as it seems wrong to shave away the teeth. Is it completely safe to do? I have heard that tooth sensitivity can sometimes result from this?
