What is the best way to take out my Invisalign aligner?

December 19th, 2011
Q.

hi, what is the easiest way to remove your invisalign brace? I’ve had mine for about a week and it’s really hard to take out when I want to clean it or eat and I’ve cut my gums on it as well. I obviously don’t want to make it too loose at it wouldn’t be very good at treating my teeth but is there anything you could recommend such as a skill or technique? thanks for your time

Will I need to have teeth extracted to have Invisalign?

December 16th, 2011
Q.

I’m 14 and I recently enquired about braces because my teeth stick out but are not wonky. Because of the recent changed to the NHS to save money, you teeth have to stick out a certain amount or more and I was 1mm away. My mother is a single parent and on on benefit and so cannot afford braces. I was really disappointed. But, I was doubting braces before anyway because I am conscious of my appearance and I was told that I would have to have 4 teeth out which I’m not keen on because when my mother had a tooth extracted she experienced dry socket and it was very uncomfortable – I would not want to risk the chance of 4 dry sockets at the same time. I would like to know if any teeth have to be extracted for Invisalign and if there are discounts for teenagers with parents on benefit for Invisalign. If there are any other affordable, less visible that normal braces, and have discounts for certain circumstances, please tell me. Thanks.

It feels like my teeth are moving, could Invisalign or Clearstep straighten them?

December 9th, 2011
Q.

Over the past few years my front teeth have started to move and have lost what was a very straight line. They also seem to tingle every so often, like they are on the move again! I looked at Clearstep with my dentist some time ago, but due to overcrowding they wanted to remove four healthy teeth before bracing, so I was against the idea. Could the 6 month Invisalign be the answer to put my front teeth back in place, without having any removed? My teeth are a bit crooked accross the bottom, but I only wanted to address the change in the teeth that show.

Is Invisalign the best brace to close a front tooth gap and move my crowded teeth?

December 7th, 2011
Q.

hello Doctor Thorne,

I hope you can help. I am looking into finally getting some braces for my teeth, which have a very big gap between the front two teeth and then the rest of the top jaw (teeth I mean) are severely crowded. Obviously this doesn’t look at all attractive, so I am looking for the best treatment to close up the gap and spread out the other teeth (I guess that’s what would happen) Do you think that invisalign would be up to this job?
if so how long could you estimate it would take and how much would it cost?

thank you very much

My smile has suffered a relapse, can Invisalign straighten my teeth again?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

HI, i am now 17, and received dental treatment from my local orthodontist around 3/4 years ago my treatment lasted about 18-24 months, when my braces were removed I traveled for a summer holiday during the trip i lost my retainers which i was given after my treatment i didn’t think to contact my orthodontist, years later i have noticed a slight move of my lower set of teeth but a more substantial move of the upper ones, i was wondering if it would be advised to get the treatment re-done, would appreciate some advise possibly to do with the invisalign treatment to.

thanks

My bottom set of aligners don’t seem to fit properly, what should I do?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I’m currently on my second tray of invisalign. I wore the first set for four weeks, but the top tray didn’t fit on my front teeth after the four weeks while the bottom fit fine. With the second set I got attachments. The bottom tray fits, but I’m having the same problem with the top tray. I’m supposed to wear this set for three weeks. Should I be worried that my top tray doesn’t fit? It’s just the four front teeth that don’t go all the way onto the tray and you can see the gap between the tray and the teeth.

I have small teeth with gaps between them, are braces my best option?

November 24th, 2011
Q.

hello Doctor Thorne, I am 18 years old and am looking for brace treatment. I have little gaps between all of my front teeth and i wondered if the best option for me is to have braces to close the gaps? However, i am worried that this may make me have a ‘small’ smile, which may look a little abnormal.
what is your opinion on this matter?

Many thanks

My teeth have relapsed again, what do you recommend?

October 31st, 2011
Q.

Hello, two years ago I got retainers on my teeth but I found them a pain and often didn’t wear them. My teeth were not really misaligned that bad but was still a problem. So my dentist gave me braces which I wore for about three months or so. I was then given retainers after the braces to avoid relapse but again didnt wear them often. My teeth has now relapsed slight as one of my front teeth is slightly overlapping another. What would you suggest for me?

I am worried about the pressure of braces on my teeth, is Invisalign a good option?

October 26th, 2011
Q.

how much pressure does invisalign put on the teeth? I had braces when I was younger that were fixed and i have never felt pain like it. I stuck with them for a month but then could not take it any longer and had to have them out. I am now 30 and would really love to have a decent smile, but i have been put off for years by the thought of all that pain again! I though id ask about invisalign, just as it isn’t a fixed brace, so i was hoping that it wouldn’t be as painful. Am i right in thinking this, or are there any other braces that would be even gentler? Im not worried about how long it takes as long as it gets done.

thank you doctor
