How long after tooth extraction can I begin invisalign?

January 8th, 2010
Q.
My dentist thoguht it best to have my wisdom teeth taken out before I go ahead with invisalign as if they were to start moving coming through more during treatment then this would only cause further problems. Now, all I would like to know is how long the area needs to heal before I can get impressions taken for the braces?

Can I still have invisalign considering tooth was knocked out?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
I had been about to get in contact with a dentist to have a consultation to see if I was okay for invisalign, but now I was in an accident and one of the teeth to the side but near the front was knocked out. I am devestated as I have wanted to get my teeth sorted for ages but now this has happened. Can I still go ahead with invisalign? Is there any treatment I can have to make invisalign a possibility? Thanks.

Is invislaign possible if I have four missing teeth?

December 15th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr. Akere, I had braces when I was about 12-14 (I am now 21) and my teeth have relapsed. I recently had 4 extractions on all sides in the back because of tooth decay. I was wondering, is invisalign still an option with these four missing teeth? Thank you.

Is tooth extraction ever necessary for invisalign?

November 16th, 2009
Q.
Is there ever the need to have a tooth extracted for invislaign treatment? I don’t want to get a tooth removed but have heard this is usually what happens with metal braces but I don’t want this.

Is shaving teeth for invisalign safer than removing teeth?

October 20th, 2009
Q.
I know that the removal of teeth, well when quite a few are absent, can cause the shape of the cheeks and face to change and get sucked in. Is this a possibility when shaving some of the teeth away to make room for teeth to move when wearing invisalign?

Is it necessary to extract teeth as part of invisalign?

October 19th, 2009
Q.
I want to get invisalign braces but am worried that my teeth may be slightly too crooked to be acceptable for the treatment. I am going to have a consultation, but I have a few questions that I was hoping you could answer. Is it necessary to extract teeth as part of invisalign treatment to make space for the teeth to move? Do they cause less pain than fixed braces? And, are invisalign braces capable of fixing quite crooked teeth?

My dentist has informed me that I will need to have

October 14th, 2009
Q.
My dentist has informed me that I will need to have one of my front bottom teeth removed in order to make room for my other teeth to straighten out. I would just like to know how long into the invisalign treatment it would take for the gap to begin to close and become less noticeable. I don’t like the idea of having a gap at the front of my teeth, I have to admit. Thanks!
